My go to bread for real French Toast is always sourdough! There’s always something about the texture and taste that makes it perfect.
I always add egg yolk to the eggs as it makes it much creamier or “custardy” and adds to the overall taste.
So if I’m making several pieces, about ½ to ¾ thick, I’ll use maybe 3 eggs plus 2 additional yolks.
Wisk those in a small casserole dish or wide bowl.
Next I’ll add about half to one teaspoon of cinnamon, I like a lot, a teaspoon of vanilla, a table spoon or more of brown sugar (I like the organic panela) and a table spoon of cream or 2 tablespoons of milk and whisk that all up.
I like to fry in butter on medium heat, but you can use some oil. When done to your likeness, butter and add you favorite topping. Maple syrup (you can find in Supermaxi) cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar or even strawberries and cream!
I like mine with maple syrup and some bacon on the side. Enjoy!!
